Meet some of our experts who have contributed to the Drafting Zone in recent years: Gary Whitmire (Technical Director) Mr. Whitmire is nationally and internationally recognized as an authority on the application and interpretation of ANSI, ASME, and ISO standards. He offers over 40 years of engineering, manufacturing, and inspection experience. He has worked as a Product Designer, Gage Designer, Configuration Manager and Engineering Services Manager. Mr. Whitmire is a past member of the ASME Y14 Main Committee (served for 28 years), including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) and has participated in all the Y14 standards since 1978. He has also served on the Executive Board of the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA). Further, he organized the Northern California Council for the Configuration/Data Management Association. (read more about Gary Whitmire) Bruce Harding, Ph.D. Dr. Harding is Professor of Mechanical Engineering Technology and Chair of he Departmental CAD and Drafting and Analytical Tools Curriculum at Purdue University. He is a drafting professional who participates on several ASME/ANSI committees and is active as an author and consultant. David A. Madsen David Madsen is Faculty Emeritus and past chair of the Drafting Technology Department of Clackamas Community College, Oregon City, Oregon. In addition to Prof. Madsen's expertise gained from 30 years as a teacher, he has applied his knowledge of drafting throughout his career by producing drawings for a variety of manufacturing firms and as an independent residential home designer. David Madsen is a past member of the board of directors of the American Design Drafting Association. (read more about David A. Madsen) Bruce Nielsen Mr. Neilsen is a CAD/drafting professional and head of his firm's drafting department. Mr. Neilsen serves on the ASME Y14.00 "Drafting Practices" committee and also on the board of the American Design Drafting Association. Mileta M. Tomovic, Ph.D. Dr. Tomovic is an Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Technology Department of Purdue University. He is an expert in welding and metal casting. Bruce A. Wilson Mr. Wilson is responsible for the implementation of GD&T for a major airplane manufacturer. He is a member of ASME and serves on the Y14.5 subcommittee. He is also a member of ASME Y14.1, Vice Chairman of Y14.3 and a member of the United States TAG/ISO/TC10/SC5 on Dimensioning and Tolerancing and the TAG/ISO/TC10/SC10 on Engineering Symbology. Mr. Wilson is also the author of a number of texts on Drafting, CAD and GD&T, is a design engineer and design manager, a GD&T instructor, and is an industrial consultant in the field of dimensional management. |
